The MCTS engineers offer a technical consultancy service for various projects that may require a more in-depth knowledge of the industry.
Along with the development of new equipment, we also offer solutions for design, inspection services, new build, modifications, legislation, testing, and certification.
Our team offers expert knowledge and experience within the container testing industry.
Chris Favager, the MCTS Ltd Managing Director, has over 30 years’ experience and has worked on a range of standard and specialist projects for the intermodal industry, including his role as the main technical advisor for designing and supplying a tank container test facility for a client based in India.

Our team also includes Robbie Burns, who is recognised throughout the industry as a highly experienced individual that is driven by technical challenges. Robbie’s background ranges from working on both warships and submarines as a Royal Marine Engineer, to holding Directorship at Amficon for 15 years where he was responsible for 93 depots. Robbie was also on the IICL technical committee for 12 years where he was leading special projects for new materials and developing processes for inspection & repair.

The vast experience and skillset shared by Chris, Robbie, and the rest of our team makes for an efficient and enterprising working relationship. An example of their innovative approach in action was evident in 2018/19 where they successfully developed, tested, and gained Lloyds Register approval for their open top container composite roof bows. This equipment was a joint project between Chris and Robbie, and since its release, it has advanced the industry by replacing the steel roof bows previously used by all the leading shipping lines.
Among many other ongoing projects that the team are working on, we are currently developing equipment that enables the safe restraint of Flexitanks, which are transported via freight containers to avoid damage to the structure whilst the unit is in service.
